Audience recording. Sort of muffled at the start but after that fine. Smith very clear, as are drums and guitar and partial bass. Bush is a dull buzz somewhere in the ether until about half way through.

If you want a perfect gig linking "Shiftwork" and "Code Selfish" and summarising the immense poetical genius of Mark Edward Smith then this is the kiddy. Hometown (sort of ) gig as usual taken at "that" usual pace by the band - as if they had anything to prove. Simply put guitar, bass and drums provide an exemplary platform from which MES launches his perverted language.

The first of eight gigs concluding the latter part of 1992 - of which, as far as we know, only four recordings exist .. the band in exceptional form, with the sound crew manipulating Marks voice to excellent effect.

Audience extremely receptive to the variety of material. Scanlon dominates and is in good form. Smith is in fine fettle directing an early 90s playlet of post modernist sensibility. Whatever and whoever was listening to something else at this time was clearly not listening to enough of a re-emerging Fall.

I would pick out the found sounds that introduce and absolutely immense "Zagreb" - a seriously dense piece of hard post psychedelia, and the surging "Idiot Joy" as highlights. Mind you there is also probably one of the better readings of "Birmingham" I have heard live with some seriously fine fret abuse from Craig.

A dub intro launches into an immense mentalist/metalist reading of "US80s90s" which appears to be about the 90s and features some serious vocal rewrites from Mr Smith - quoting the "League of Bald Headed Men in leather jackets conniving....etc". .... an exceptional closing number full of brio and bravado.

Miss this one at your peril.
