This is a fairly good audience tape. Some audience noise but mostly good natured whoopin' and a hollerin' which adds to the charm of the whole affair.

First live performances of "Enigrammatic Dream" and "I wake up in the City".

Manic gig. Totally spellbinding state of the art speed core madness and mayhem. OK two of the gigs on this tour of the States are on the "Touch Sensitive" Box set and you can get more or less the same set list from the Crocodile Cafe gig the following night in Seattle in soundboard "pristine" but you do get the debuts of two of the staples from this era of the band. You also don't get the sense of the intense sound of the band at this particular gig.

This is a rock gig by any other name - Spen and Jim carve out a dense rhythm conjured somewhere from the memories of Bill Ward & Geezer Butler and Ben plays licks and runs in the spirit of Tony Iommi. Smith is Smith and yelps, snarls and slurs his way through sixteen classic tracks.

I don't underestimate the brutal rock stylings of this gig - it is quite unique in its content - refreshingly fast and metallic. Most of the material is played straight however the speed and the interplay between the band implies a bluesier sound and a tenser younger sound.

Points of note

- Smiths cack-handed keyboard work on "Touch Sensitive"
- Inter song muttering and humming
- a mentalist inchoate version of "Crop Dust" - quite simply barkingly wondrous..... complete with some nice little finger slips from Ben
- Mark asking if his hotel has been sorted out before "Bourgeois"
- Audience participation on "Mr P"
- A classic ultra fast "Sons of Temperance" worthy of the Ramones
- Mark's tongue twisting around the words on "E.Dream"
- The lengthy "City"

Quite a hoot and well worth a listen. Great playing throughout.
