Goodish audience tape. Band is a bit distant but all is audible
(*) Once again i'm not sure if Mr Rogers is at this gig. Additional guitar and keyboard malarkey would tend to imply he is present.
Most of February 1987 was taken up with a 19 date tour of Germany and Holland - the band visiting Aachen early in the tour.
Here we find a band in full flow mining the material from the last three years with the exception of "Hobgoblins" which rounds off the set.
This tour is well represented in trading circles and whilst this is a muscular/ visceral performance there are better gigs available.
The centrepiece is a magnificent version of "Damo" stretching out over 8 minutes and featuring unison chiming guitars over Hanley bass. Smith is in excellent form with suppressed violence dripping from his voice.
There is some wonderful exposition on "R.O.D." on the "Robson Tainted" phrase when Mark mutters something about "English Football Brain"....this is a great version of the track with the elements locking together.
A good listen but not essential.
